| I have 3 mystery parts in the oil pan. It is clear I have 2 spun rod bearings, but both the intake and exhaust valves on the heads appear to be intact, the spark plugs were NOT melted, and no pistons were cratered through. I have not pulled the heads to see if there is surface damage on the 2 cylinders with spun rod bearings, but I may be able to get away with a couple of bearings, rods, and a fully functioning longblock with minimal additional investment. Brass toothpaste, anyone?
Lots more bearing carnage where that came from:
For the life of me, I cannot figure out what these 3 parts are that were floating around in the oil pan:

I have looked everywhere (without removing the girdle) and can't see any evidence of anything shearing off ANYWHERE.
 Bent rod:

Betcha that got hot for a minute or so:
Check #1 and #2 against #3 and #4. Obvious where the heat was.
My guess is the heads are perfect and I need to replace 2 rods and 2 rod bearings, and resurface the crankshaft. There is no evidence of a main bearing giving out. I will see if I can get the girdle off tomorrow and figure out WTF those pieces are. I don't see any scoring on ANY cylinder walls, I am remaining optimistic.
